Deep Drop Fishing Charters

We are fortunate to have a new type of fishing that is available to us on the longer day and overnight trips.  Deep dropping is exciting and new option for those who try master the really deep water and would like a chance to catch Yellowedge Grouper, Snowy Grouper, Scorpion Fish, Long Tail Bass, Golden Tile fish, Barrel Fish, Cusk Eels and Warsaw Grouper.   These deep water fish live in depths of 600 to 1500 feet and we only use the best high quality specialized electric reels to reach these fish. 

Our reel of choice for this application is the Daiwa Tanacom Bull, power assist reel filled with Power-pro spectra line on custom fishing rods and we have 4 of them on the board. You can reel one up by hand if you want, but it may take you a while!  However, it is possible to fish with conventional tackle, as some guys using the reels like a Shimano Trinidad 40's are starting to use the Shimano butter fly jigging system with some luck.  However, the electric assist tackle helps you get them in and leaves you with enough energy to do it again!  The end result is, you get to catch some big, interesting fish that maybe new to you as well as taste great.   All of these species are cold water fish and can be caught year round on the longer trips with good success

This is a really good sized Golden Tile fish.  We caught this guy in November of 2009 in 775'.

This is a giant Yellowedge Grouper that was caught this spring in 800'.

Doubles!  doesn't happen all the time but when it does... it is usually going to be an awesome day!

This is a great sport for patient kids.  With the new Daiwa Tanacom Bull reels and the custom rods made for deep dropping that we have on the boat they are light enough to be handled by all.
